Here is is, in the flesh. The Rollei 35af from Mint camera. This is a real camera, not a dummy. I managed to get my hands on the only working prototype and answer a few questions about the camera. In my excitement I didn't manage to get through all of the details, but I will be shooting with it over the next week and will post a video with more details. Some corrections: The camera does have a ...

Hello, is the old sekor 80mm 2.8 of the 645m compatible with the 645 super body?
Nikon is essentially committing suicide by their asinine illogical business practices, not only by discontinuing the best film cameras, but the weird direction Nikon is taking in the digital realm. Seriously ... it just seems like each and every business decision which Nikon has made over the last 15 years or so is specifically designed to put themselves very much OUT of business, or at least be the very LAST choice among the big three - Fuji, Canon ... and now last place Nikon. In recent years, Nikon has specialized in creating JUNK.
too "bricky " for me...very sharp angles for pocket .....
why did you load the camera before this video..................................................................
I recently acquired an R8 in very good condition (refurbished) and I am quite surprised at how capable it is. I was worried that it would feel too big and heavy mainly because of reviews like yours that make that claim. This is actually smaller and lighter than my Nikon F4 and really not significantly different in size from my Contax RX or Canon T-90. I find the ergonomics much better than expected which mitigates the size and weight substantially for me. Definitely better overall than my R7, SL2 or SL. I was honestly getting to the point of selling off all of my R gear when I picked this up, now I am not. Not a moment too soon as I really like the R glass rendering. Maybe I should encourage anyone who reports on the R8 to drive its popularity down so I can still afford a 2nd R8 body!
Hey man I know its a 3 year old video but I just wanted to ask if serial number matters for people looking to buy a Nikon F6?
i come back to these old videos regularly, thanks for making them, the passion you speak about it is amazing
I do enjoy listening and watching you....just an honest bloke. Not some stuffy, pretend-to-be You Tuber but I love the true emotions and statements and just who you are....keep it up
I appreciate that!
Hey there!! Thanks for letting us know what you have up to! Book! lovely!!!
Thanks for watching!
someone is a fan of Alice in Chains
Oh hell yeah.
Is the book going to be available in China?
It is available from all good book sellers online. I don't know about shipping to China though, you may need to check.
Just ordered your book from Amazon. Congratulations on its publication.
I really appreciate it. I hope you like it.
Do you meddle with many old large format cameras or is there anyone bothered about that format anymore
Best wishes with the book. You should be proud
Thank you
Hey from Cheyenne!
I have a magic combo that I've been using for quite a few years now. Nikon F6 on matrix-meter setting, 2.8 or better Nikkor glass, and Provia 100f. While it is true that the film choice doesn't work in every setting, from a roll of 36 I can usually get 3-4 images that just blow-away any digital attempt. I'm quite happy with that ratio. The reject images only demonstrate that I haven't mastered it yet.
What are the other two black cameras on the table?
Im too poor for it, but damn is this thing is lovely. I love what pentax has done, but this guy is much more "me". I really hope this does well.
Does it come in black?🥺 please please please
New to the channel. Glad to see a ressurgence in film and cameras.
I wish them luck, it's a pass for me. I know this has a better spec sheet than the Pentax 17, but the user experience of that camera is fantastic. Great grip, a well-designed and placed viewfinder (directly over lens center line minimizes f'ups with parallax), the winder is excellent, a great middle ground between hands-on and automatic for a casual camera. Sometimes I want to shoot seriously, bring a tripod and shoot medium format and meter properly, sometimes I just want something small, light, and to just go. This Rollei 35af seems like an awkward box that's harder to hold and handle, and I just don't trust MiNT. I couldn't stand using the MiNT/Rollei TL70, that had an absolutely absurd exposure system, wild vignetting at all apertures due to a sloppy aperture plate system, a pitiful focus wheel, and I got worse results with it than a basic Instax Mini. The viewfinder on the TL70 was good, but shooting that camera in practice was a rotten time and the camera purchase I regret most. But this is a big swing, and I respect the hustle, and wish MiNT luck. I hope it turns out well for them and anyone buying the camera.
Really Fun overview, I had never heard of the Yasuhara camera! It's very interesting to see that 8 was the highest rating in the useability category. I'd be really interested to see if you've changed your mind, or have found any other cameras that rank higher on the purely useability area! Just based on features, I would think the Ikon ZM would get an extra point up to 9 since it has the Aperture Priority that the MP lacks, as well as much easier film loading and unloading. But then again the MP is certainty smoother, and more satisfying to actually want to hold up and make a picture, so maybe it evens out.
OMG, this is so cute! And metal! I think the auto-focus is so great
Excited to see what shots you get with it. I'm excited pentax came out with their half frame camera but I'm even more excited about this since it has autofocus.
Just fantastic stuff! Thanks for the tour Bellamy. Please do more videos like this.
U know anybody who can repair the TC-1 film advance gears?
4:57
So it has ASA/DIN exposure selector but it does not meters light? How can it be auto if it doesnt know if its correctly exposed?
I have a F3-P that has the box but no manual. Was wondering if the manual that came in your box spells out the differences from the standard F3?
Whats the lens? F1.2? 45mm?
i believe its a 50mm F1.2, you can see if you pause and check the lens
@@ROGEN10BA So those lenses are removable, like on an SLR?
Can I buy lt for less than 200 pls
I've looked for one, but all the electronics scared me. Could turn into a paperweight at any time.
About manual focus, it would be awesome if in a V2 if a software type MF could be done, like with the Contax T3. You can get the AF motor to preset to distance and get zone focusing. Maybe one of the front dials could be used for selecting distance. It would be a great little snap shooter then.
Just the one focus point?
As an owner of a rollei 35se this new camera has me excited 📷
The Rollei 35 is my favorite camera of all time, this is going to sell well
Contax steel alive?? 😊.Tchuss, pierro, user of contax. Camera since 30 years….
As I type this a Rolleiflex 2.8 E is heading my way, it will make a great partner to my Rolleiflex automat. Thanks for another great video by the way.
So does this camera have hot shoe or PC sync socket?
23:31 sadly it doesnt have a hotshoe (or even coldshoe for that matter) on the bottom like the og. Though i guess it does have a screw mount so we still do have an option-ish to attach something to it (coldshoe adapter maybe?)... And hopefully the flash is decent, atleast capable for what its aimed for, which is a pocketable daily camera (and attaching big flashes on the rollei35 have always looked funny lol) edit: just read through some comments, JCH said it does have a lightmeter!
Very, very excited for this! I ordered the Pentax 17 too. Bring on more of these updated classics and new ideas, like the Pentax 17, all you camera manufacturers!
Wee....799 $ is really too much....sad, but true.
well the original was priced at roughly $190 at release, compensate for inflation that becomes $1800 today! (which is fair for new premium digital cameras these days) Sure, film photography becoming niche, and Rollei not being as popular as it used to be (arguable tbh), and Mint being a *new* manufacturer (not really, they have history of manufacturing film cameras), eventually the film photography market WILL adjust prices when more cameras (and film) comes out and people speak with their money, but seeing the trend of instax/polaroid cameras and the 35mm film prices itself I still say thats fair.
It does look like a bit of a chunk compared to the original, but still pretty tiny. I’ll definitely pick this up as a point and shoot! The AF sounds a bit loud maybe, but hard to complain for someone’s first camera 😅
It has a FLASH??? Amazing! Absolutely love my 35S, 100% on my radar
The best camera ever made.
I agree. So intelligently designed. Had one with a prism finder in the 80s.
Thank you
Exciting times! Well done Mint and JCH!
Feels like the new film cameras coming out this year are to make it more complicated and cumbersome for new photographers. How about a a new GR or a new film Leica CL/Minolta CLE?
A firmware update for a film camera would be insane
I'm getting one of these.
This looks great. Price is good for a new film camera that will likely outperform Contax point and shoots.
